Volunteering:

Picture
The 2012 Wakefield Moonlight River Run had over 50 volunteer positions for people to help coordinate activities associated with this event. This run could not happen without these dedicated individuals who love to contribute and make a difference. All volunteers will receive:

  • a Wakefield Moonlight River Run Volunteer race t-shirt
  • recovery food provided by local businesses

Race Kit Pick Up:
Race kit pick up is one of the first places of contact with the runners. Friendliness, helpfulness are key to this activity.  The shift starts early and finishes when the last run has started.

Registration:
You will be registering runners in the event on the evening of the run. This requires patience, attention to detail and handling money with responsibility. The shift is from 7:00 pm to 8:45 pm.

START / Finish LINE:
These individuals take charge of making sure all runners have timing chips on their ankles before their run and then collect them from the runners when they come through the finish line. Chips are then returned to Sportstats.

Chip Distribution:
In this position, you distribute the race timing chips once racer is registered and received their bib number. You must ensure all runners get the correct chip and give them clear instructions on how to wear it.

Parking:
Parking at the site is somewhat limited and we want to ensure everyone fits in close to the venue. Parking volunteers must be 18 years or older. Information and parking volunteers need to have a good knowledge of the event as one of the first points of contact at the venue. People arriving will be asking questions about the race kit pick up and registration for instance. All Parking is at the Wakefield Community Center then people walk 200 meters to race area.

Route Marshalls:
This position gives people the opportunity to be on the course with the runners and watch them speed by ensuring; all runners head in the right direction, follow the proper route and guide traffic so that there are no interruptions.

Water stations:
There will be a maximum of 3 water stations with only 3 positions available for a station captain to volunteer and create a team with a minimum of 3 people with no maximum. Each team/water station gets to play music at their table and create a glow in the dark atmosphere for fun environment for everyone to enjoy!

Recovery Area:
This position is in charge of food tables at the finish line making sure all participants get what they need to refuel their bodies after their run!

If you want to volunteer, Please fill in the form at the bottom of the page and the Volunteer Coordinator, Shelley Crabtree will be in contact with you: shelley@aegleevents.
